Contact Summary: At 20:00 hrs EST Alpha Company formed up for its new Special Operations Induction course. After having an initial accountability formation, the company moved to its nearby training grounds to start its new course. There Lt. Neves instructed the students on formations, customs and courtesies, code of conduct, tactics and other areas of the manual. Once the basics were covered, the students were sent from checkpoint to checkpoint learning various lessons in special operations from the NCOs. Among these were combat casualty care, infiltration/reconnaissance, unit tactics, and Republic Operations in Urban Terrain. Once the NCOs were confident in their students instruction, the students were ordered to make movement to Tatooine for the final evaluation portion of training.

During the evaluation, Neves, Mij, Ranque, and Viozaer acted as the Opposing Force while the students were given a mission. During the course of the mission Op-For took on various roles such as open hostiles, passive locals, concerned farmers etc. The students were being graded based on their performance during each situation throughout the evaluation. Once the evaluation was completed, the students gathered around and were debriefed. Overall, the team performed well and passed the course. Alpha Company was then dismissed for the night.

    Positive Points:
    • A huge turnout! We had the largest attendance that I've seen in about two months. Way to bring the year to a close with a great show!
    • Everyone enjoyed the new course and loved the RP elements and training they received.
    • Those who attended were involved and everyone contributed to the overall success of the evening.

    Negative Points:
    • The course went WAY longer than I intended! What was meant to be a two and half hour course at the most, turned into a four hour course (I apologize.)
    • This was the very first run through for the new course, so there were some bumps in the road along the way as well as the time problem.

Overall Assessment and Recommendation: All of those who attended said that they enjoyed the event and the time spent! In order to shorten the time consumed. I'm going to recommend that we break this course into a two event course overall. The first would cover all of what was originally included as the old basic training, the second event would encompass the special operations classes and evaluation. Both would be required in order to be considered completely trained and eligible for promotion to Specialist. This will also serve to fill the calendar for events for more people to attend based on their different playtime (i.e. one on a weekend and another during the week). I would like to thank all of your for showing up and participating! As well as the NCOs who helped run the course as smoothly as possible. We will be talking to those who attended throughout time before the next training to see what can be improved upon. Also if you have any thoughts you would like to share here then go ahead.
