  • Training (8/17/2013) AAR: Basic Training-Ord Mantell

AAR: Basic Training - Ord Mantell
    Division of the Republic Army
    After Action Report
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------
    Unit Information
    Unit: 203rd REL "Alpha Company"
    C.O.: Major Qorbin Oca
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------

    Deployment Report

    Planet: Ord Mantell
    Formation Size: 5
    Troops in Formation:
    Sergeant Fairbairn
Specialist Chadeaux (later promoted to Corporal)
    Recruit Haddrik
    Recruit Maxence
    Recruit Orabos

Areas Patrolled: Area just South of Fort Garnik

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------

    Summary:
Sergeant Fairbairn conducted basic training on a raised platform just South of Fort Garnik.
    We formed up on the platform in our standard company style formation and Sergeant Fairbairn asked everyone some basic 'Alpha Company Training Manual' questions that covered;
    • Military Etiquette
    • Company Uniform / Gear
    • Formations
    • Combat Maneuvers
As an example, "What is the standard rifle Alpha Company uses?" or "When does a Sergeant salute another Sergeant?"
The Chain of Command was covered, letting the Recruits know they should bring questions to their Sergeant (or Corporal) to allow the chain to work properly.
We went over how communications during Combat Operations are kept to a minimum, thus allowing the person in charge to maximize the tactical choices as our Scouts report on Enemy troop movements.

We then moved on to a practical exercise for different patrol / combat formations. We went over when and why to use specific formations and that on the battlefield, formations are called and modified as each situation dictates.

    Positive Points:
    • Training started on time
    • Recruits proved they had read the 'Training Manual'

    Negative Points:
    • Small recruit class
    • Some recruits miscalculated ZULU time to their local time, thus missed this Basic Training class

    Overall Assessment and Recommendation:
Overall the class was well conducted and the Recruits did well with both the questions and practical exercises.

Recommend everyone use a time conversion tool to convert ZULU time into their time-zone, as all Alpha Company events are posted in ZULU time.
It's up to each individual to convert this to their time-zone.
