    Contact Summary:
The night before the event, 1LT Kjvago Mahr was contacted by Karitte of Eminent Aegis and asked to help with an in game memorial ceremony to celebrate the survivors and honor the dead after the shooting in Orlando. This was organized at the last minute by Eminent Aegis leadership after they found out that one of their members had two friends inside Pulse.

We were given three duties. Opening ceremony, closing ceremony and guard duty. We were given free rein to do whatever we wanted with the ceremonies and our guards were instructed to keep trolling or drama to a minimum.

SGT Nakari commanded the troops on guard duty and made sure to rotate the guards on the doors so that they could take turns watching the ceremonies. At the end of the ceremony all the roaming guards lined the door at the exit.

1SG Ranque Runninglighter planned the drill late the night before and practiced it with 1LT Kjvago Mahr, SGT Eroca Romaniski, and SPC Derzis Derzelas. The following day, SGT Romaniski stepped down from the drill duty in order to not harm the performance with lag and trained SPC Weslo Fallgan to take her place.

The drill team wore a special issue white dress uniform for the opening ceremony to symbolize life and to celebrate the living. They walked to the stage where they displayed the flag of the Republic.

They then retreated to the corners of the stage to make room for the Eminent Aegis part of the ceremony. Eminent Aegis ended their section with a moment of silence after which the drill team performed their moment of silence.

The drill team wore the regular black dress uniform during the closing ceremony to symbolize mourning. They walked to the front of the stage where they fired a six-volley gun salute to honor the dead after which they vacated the stage and marched out of the room to line the hallway as people left the venue.

    Positive Points:
    Good turnout
    Drill was very well done
The white dress uniform turned out really well
It was a huge honor to be asked to do this

    Negative Points:
    Short time to prepare

Overall Assessment and Recommendation: It was a huge honor to be asked to do this and you all performed admirably in putting our part together so quickly and so well. Today I am very proud to be a part of Alpha Company.

    Recommendations for Medals:
All members in attendance are being recommended for the Combined Arms Medal for exemplary conduct with outside Republic forces.

1SG Ranque Runninglighter, SGT Eroca Romaniski, SGT Nakari Kass’l, SPC Derzis Derzelas, SPC Fredreck Var and SPC Weslo Fallgan are being recommended for the Commendation of External Support for their work on this event to further the good name of the unit.

    Copied from Eminent Aegis forums:

This event was inspired by a conversation with Eminent Aegis [member name redacted], who's friends were in the club Pulse, the night of Orlandos mass shooting.

This has been recorded by Aeruma, the text has been spoken by Kariette. A special thanks to Alpha Company for their color guard and military involvement.

The following is the speech written and presented by Allyla at the memorial.

"Hello, and thank you for coming today.

I want us to begin by taking a look at ourselves. We all have a journey we have walked, we have memories we cherish, and we are all defined by different things, such as our race, our religion, our sexual orientation. We go by different names, we like different foods, sports, fashion styles, even games. Some of us are students, some of us hold a job in the world, and some of us are living out our dreams. We are all different, but regardless, we are all human beings.

In life, we go through a journey. Each journey is unique and it's own. On our journey, we laugh, we cry, we love, we breathe. Some journeys become entwined and share moments together that leave behind memories, those of joy, happiness, and love. In celebration of our journeys, we raise this green light saber.

Throughout a journey, that journey creates memories. We become fond of those memories because of the lessons learned, the tears shed, and the joy brought by them. To share a memory is a blessing. When a journey ends, the memory lives on. In reflection of our memories shared, we raise this black light saber.

As every journey is different, every memory is its own as well. To have shared a journey, to have shared a memory with another is a beautiful gift. When a journey ends, it's memories are remembered through others. We mourn and grieve, but is that journey ever truly gone? Can such a powerful element of a memory be forgotten? No, not completely. A part of another's journey, our memories created with them, will always be with us.bthey shaped who we are now, through remembrance, they will continue to shape us. A journey never completely leaves us, but it becomes a part of us. In remembrance of those lost, we raise this white light saber, thank you for impacting us in a way only you can.

In the wake of this tragedy, we lost so many unique individuals, and only because they embraced something so beautiful, love. Why should something as precious as love be feared? Why should embracing who we are be spat on? We all travel a unique journey, but if you have every been treated unfairly, be it for your looks, your beliefs, or who you love, my heart breaks for you. To be ridiculed, diminished, and disgraced for being yourself, I want you to know you are not alone. You are not alone, and you never will be. There are people out there who love and accept you for who you are.

To those lost, you are not forgotten. The Ebon Hawk remembers. Thank you for gracing our world with your presence."
